Improved Forest Management (IFM)
IFM projects involve a substantive, long‑term change in Green Diamond’s forest management practices. By extending rotations relative to baseline management, these projects increase on‑landscape carbon storage while preserving timber economies and providing essential long‑lived wood products. IFM projects are an essential near‑term climate change mitigation solution.
Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR)
ARR projects draw on Green Diamond’s in‑house land acquisition and reforestation expertise—with 25,000 acres reforested each year—to restore degraded agricultural and pasture lands to productive forest ecosystems. These projects are designed for long‑term carbon sequestration and sustained forest management while supporting recreation and conservation.
Co‑Benefits
As nature‑based solutions, IFM and ARR projects abound in co‑benefits, including improved soil quality, erosion control, contiguous animal habitat and biodiversity uplift. Forest carbon projects also support forest industry jobs and local timber economies for the long‑term. In many cases, public access for recreation on our carbon projects is also a tangible benefit to local communities.
