A Team Committed to Being Great in the Woods

It takes a team of dedicated experts to ensure the optimal care and management of a working forest.

Our operations bring together highly trained foresters, conservation scientists and business leaders who are deeply passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. They are botanists in California, sustainability experts in Washington, silviculturists (forest managers) in Georgia and so much more. They come to Green Diamond to advance their careers and knowledge and to join a five-generation legacy of being great in the woods.

Meet the People Behind Our Working Forests

Emily Paxson is based out of Green Diamond’s Columbia Basin Management Area as an area forester, handling the layout and planning of timber harvest units. She grew up in the Columbia Gorge region on a small fourth-generation tree farm with a sawmill. Her favorite part about working at Green Diamond is the opportunity to work in the forests where she grew up, plus the collaborative and positive work culture.

Nathanael Pothier is an equipment operator/shop technician based out of Green Diamond’s Oregon operations in Klamath Falls. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Nathanael enrolled in the Klamath Falls Police Reserve Program in January 2021 and graduated in July 2021. This is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that trains individuals to serve in a law enforcement capacity within the community.

Mike Zontos is an Aquatic Biologist III Fisheries in our California Timberlands division. Mike has always had an interest in aquatics, growing up in Santa Cruz, California, and earning a B.S. in fisheries biology from Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State University). Mike says that his favorite parts of his job are “working in the creeks with wild populations of fish, seeing the most stunning portions of the property, and handling the fish species I am most passionate about: salmon and steelhead.”
