Sustainability

Stewardship today for a resilient tomorrow.

Green Diamond is deeply committed to sustainably managing our forests and our sixth-generation family business. To us, sustainability is multifaceted, involving environmental stewardship, economic vitality, social responsibility, continuous improvement, transparency and accountability. Together, these practices ensure that we can meet the needs of our business and communities today and in future generations.

We prioritize healthy forests in all of our land management decisions, focusing on the following to achieve successful stewardship outcomes:

  • Regionally appropriate harvest, reforestation and conservation strategies.
  • Practices that demonstrate how timber production, carbon storage and wildlife habitat can co-exist.
  • A land management approach that supports continued ecological health, biodiversity and water quality.
  • Collaborative efforts to integrate carbon sequestration projects across thousands of acres of our forests.

Our goal is to create long-term value for forests, shareholders and local operating communities to sustain our company for future generations. We support this by:

  • Prioritizing the highest ethical standards and a reliable and responsible supply chain, practices that also help maximize the profitability of our timber resources.
  • Strengthening our relationships with local communities by creating jobs, supporting local businesses and contributing to community well-being.

We are committed to fostering collaborative relationships with our local operating communities and other stakeholders. Our approach includes:

  • Providing public recreational opportunities and community support.
  • Consulting with stakeholders and working to influence sound policy.
  • Building mutual trust and respect among our workforce.
  • Acknowledging and respecting the rights of Indigenous peoples, with whom we regularly collaborate to help keep forests on the landscape.

The same sense of adaptability that supported the resiliency of Green Diamond's business through six generations shapes our sustainability approach. This includes:

  • Continually innovating and improving our processes and practices.
  • Regularly seeking opportunities to enhance how we assess our performance, drive efficiencies and reduce environmental impacts across our operations.
  • Adhering to Forest Stewardship Council® and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® standards to maintain science-based practices on all our lands.

We believe in transparency and are committed to reporting our sustainability performance, including by:

  • Sharing our progress through annual sustainability reports, which we have published since 2022.
  • Focusing on reporting and other corporate sustainability practices to reduce risk, increase relevance and build Green Diamond's resilience.
